Hero With A Wing

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock…

Hero misconstrued
Sinister, egotistical desires
Greed and glory
The spring of Narcissus’s dichotomy

Boastful, prideful
Hercules the turned God
Drowning in ambrosia, ignorant glee
Revived, golden, transcendent
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock…

He too lost his wings
Spiraling down to Earth
Godlike turned meteorite
Did Icarus not warn him enough?
Time the unforgiving, the cruel
Wasting, rotting, decaying
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock…
Fate’s rugose hand approaching his fading string
Oh, the poor hero, cursed for eternity
Hubris, his fatal flaw
Urging the Fates to set him free
“Just cut my string, I beg of thee”

A hero craving his own demise
How ironic…
Will he be cursed to join Tantalus’ curse?
Or will the clock simply stop?
Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Tick, Tick…
Snip.
